Lawyers 'using delaying tactics' PUTRAJAYA:
Umno legal adviser Datuk Mohd Hafarizam Harun has accused lawyers representing Perak state assembly Speaker V. Sivakumar of delaying court proceedings to cause the automatic dissolution of the legislature. He said the assembly would be dissolved if a meeting was not convened by May 13."The law states that a meeting must be held within six months from the last session, failing which the house will be dissolved and fresh elections called," he told reporters after attending the proceedings in the Federal Court yesterday.The last meeting was held on Nov 13 last year.Hafarizam said the law also stated that all assemblymen must be given at least 14 days notice to attend the legislative assembly meeting."Notices must be sent out by the end of the month. The lawyers are attempting to delay proceedings to prevent the Federal Court making rulings on time."
